Oxen and horses at the Farm
I always seem to strike gold when I visit Ross Farm, and last Wednesday was no different. I seem to luck out with activities that are superbly photogenic, as the men were using both oxen and horses to plow the fields. The lighting was ideal, and I made full use of the capabilities of the D50, Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 zoom and SB-800 flash. The VIVID setting on the camera may be a tad overdone but I like the warmth of the color this old Nikon yields.

Blah winter day at the Farm
Seems this winter just is not going to happen as far as a generous amounts of lingering snow and exceptional photo opportunities. Despite the sort of bland day, I was able to get some decent captures at Ross Farm as I always seem to do. Barry was making snowshoes all day, very time-consuming work but a necessary part of travel back in the 1800's. The 12-24mm and an SB-800 works wonders in tight quarters. The horse images were a bonus, they looked great in the winter air.
